How to create a single inscription on Gamma

If you'd like to create your own inscriptions on Gamma, several options are available to you. 

You can inscribe an individual image, inscribe several images in bulk, inscribe a text, or create a collection mint.

To get started, you will need to connect your Ordinal compatible wallet. 

Once you've connected your wallet, click on Create in the top menu, then "Preserve images or text for myself" and click Continue.

You will be taken to this page, where you can decide to upload a single image, create a bulk inscription, or inscribe text.

Single image inscription

Click on "Single image inscription" if you're looking to inscribe only one ordinal. You'll be taken to this page. Note that you can toggle "High resolution", and the image size limit will go from 60kb to 360kb.

Make sure your file is under 4 MB when you upload it. If your image is too heavy, you will get this error message.

Once you've uploaded your image, click Continue. Clicking "Clear" below the Continue button will remove the image and let you start over.

On the following screen, you'll first need to decide if you want to upload on-chain metadata attached to your inscription. You can enter the data manually or upload a JSON file. For more information regarding the correct format for your metadata, please refer to this article. 

Select your preferred fees. Gamma does not charge a service fee, the fee you are shown on this page is an estimate of the Bitcoin network fees. USD values are an estimate, and the final total price will be shown on the last step. 

Enter the BTC address of the ordinal recipient. This can be your own BTC address or someone else's. If you don't enter a refund address, it will default to the recipient address, so we recommend you add your BTC address to that field. Entering your email address is optional, and if you do, it will never be shared publicly.

Double check you've entered the correct BTC address and when you're ready, click continue.

Review your details and agree to the Terms of Use, then click Continue.

You will be taken to this page, follow instructions to complete your transaction!

If you entered your email address, you will receive an email confirming Gamma has received your inscription request.

Once you've completed your payment, it can take anywhere between a few hours and few days for your transaction to complete and your ordinal to reach the recipient address, depending on the fees you selected and network congestion. Hang tight!
