How does selling on Gamma work?

Our marketplace is designed to connect buyers and sellers of Bitcoin NFTs. We support two kinds of sales:

  1. The initial sale, or mint, of your own collection of unique digital works.
  2. Secondary marketplace sales, which represent the majority of sales on the marketplace. This type of sale is trading cryptocurrency in exchange for another user’s NFT.

Each secondary sale includes the artist's royalties (a percentage which varies depending on the artist and collection) as well as the marketplace commission. These are shown in a pop-up when you list an asset, letting you know the total amount you'll receive upon sale (listing amount minus artist royalties and market fees).

Buying and selling NFTs securely and indisputably transfers ownership. The ordinals marketplace is built directly on the Layer 1 Bitcoin Blockchain, and Stacks NFTs are powered by Bitcoin, making them highly secure.

How to list an Ordinal

First, you'll need to navigate to gamma.io and connect your Bitcoin wallet. Make sure you select the account that holds the Ordinal you want to sell.

Once connected, click on your profile pill in the top right corner. You'll be taken to your collected Ordinals. Hovering over the Ordinal you want to list will show you the List button.

Clicking the List button will open this modal.

You might want to take a look at how the collection is doing and its floor price to help you decide on a list price. Once you've entered your list price, you'll see the amount you'll receive. If you're happy with it, go ahead and click Sign.

That's it, you've listed your Ordinal for sale! You will now see options to unlist it or lower the price.

Note that creating a listing is free, but unlisting requires a payment of network fees. Please head over to this article for more information on why off-chain unlistings without network fees are dangerous.

How to list a Stacks NFT

First, navigate to stacks.gamma.io (click on Stacks in the top menu), and make sure you've connected your wallet. To do so, click on the button in the top right corner of the homepage. Once you've selected the account you'd like to use from the wallet pop-up, your alphanumeric or BNS address (associated to your STX address) will be displayed in the top right corner. Click on it and you'll be directed to your profile page. When you connect a Stacks wallet to Gamma, you will see two profile pills in the top right corner. One is your Stacks profile, the other is the associated BTC profile.

Once you land on your profile page, click on the NFT you'd like to list, then click on the "List" button.

Enter the list price in the pop-up and review the You Will Receive total before clicking the List button. This shows the amount you will receive once the NFT is sold, minus the creator royalties and market fees.

Your wallet will prompt you to confirm this transaction before it is submitted to be confirmed on the Stacks blockchain.  Once it has been confirmed in an anchor block, your NFT will be able to be bought by users on Gamma's marketplace.
