What are Ordinals?

Ordinals are essentially Bitcoin NFTs you can mint directly on the Bitcoin blockchain. Each sat (the smallest unit of Bitcoin) can be inscribed with data, such as JPGs, GIFs, PDFs and more, creating a Bitcoin Ordinal Inscription, which is then held in a wallet. Ordinals are interchangeably referred to as Bitcoin Ordinals, Ordinal inscriptions, Bitcoin NFTs, and inscriptions.

What's Stacks?

Stacks is a smart contract layer for Bitcoin, allowing you to buy, sell, and create NFTs secured by Bitcoin. Stacks is a separate blockchain that settles key information back down to Bitcoin, or a "layer 2" blockchain. 1. Set up a wallet

You'll first need a digital wallet: that's how you'll engage in Web3 and store all of your assets and data. You can take your wallet and its things with you to whatever app you're using! 

Leather (formerly Hiro) and Xverse are both compatible with Stacks and Ordinals. Unisat wallet is compatible with Ordinals.

2. Buy Crypto

Now that you have a wallet, you have a BTC address and/or a STX address and all you need is some cryptocurrency!

You can purchase BTC or STX on cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase and Binance.

You can also buy BTC within the Gamma app with a credit card or bank account via Stripe / Link by clicking the hamburger menu and then "Buy Bitcoin," or you can buy STX with a credit or debit card from within Leather or Xverse wallet.

Another option is to use a non-exchange method such as SimpleSwap.io or LNSwap.org which allows you to exchange other cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, for STX.

3. Connect wallet to Gamma

If you're looking to join the Ordinals ecosystem, go to gamma.io and click "Connect wallet" in the top right corner. You'll be given the option to select the wallet you'd like to use.

For Stacks, go to stacks.gamma.io, click on connect wallet and your wallet extension will prompt you to choose an account to connect. That's it! 

Now you can mint recently released collections on Gamma, explore our create portal to launch your own collection, or buy NFTs on the marketplace, it's that simple! 

What to do next?

1. Buy a .btc domain
   Get your decentralized identity and use it to transfer NFTs and view your profile and someone else's on the Stacks blockchain.
2. Set up your profile
   On your Ordinals or Stacks profile, change your avatar, update your description and add your social links.
3. Buy your first NFT
   Time to start collecting!

If you have several STX addresses and/or ETH addresses you can also combine your profiles.
